What happened at IFS WoCo 2019

Oct 21, 2019

At every major conference, it is expected that there will be some new announcements and best practices tips to help IFS’ partners thrive. However, few could have anticipated what a jam-packed event IFS WoCo 2019 would have been. IFS executives, clients, and partners descended onto Boston, Massachusetts for three days of learning and networking, brimming with excitement about the future of IFS Applications. For those of you that couldn’t make it, here’s a recap of everything announced at IFS WoCo 2019:

On day one, IFS CEO Darren Roos spoke about Customer Centricity and making sure that the customer is best able to derive value from their IFS implementations. To that end, IFS announced two new offerings:

  1. IFS Select

In the words of IFS, “IFS Select provides a continuous, fully-managed engagement program to drive and maximize successful commercial outcomes from your IFS investment, year after year.” In other words, IFS will work with businesses to continually optimize and refine their systems.

  1. IFS Success

It is a framework based on Value Assurance, Application Management Services, Safeguarding, and Customer Success Management which helps businesses better utilize software to drive not only digital transformation but increased productivity and profitability.

IFS Acquires Astea

IFS also announced its intention to acquire the global end-to-end Field Service Management firm Astea to solidify its leadership in the Field Service Management space and to provide improvements to IFS Field Service Management in the near future.

Aurena Everywhere

It was also announced that the IFS Aurena user experience would now be available across all IFS Applications to all IFS customers around the world.

IFS practices what it preaches

To prove their belief in their products, IFS announced that they had transitioned from several disparate instances of IFS Applications into one instance of IFS Applications 10 in the cloud. IFS knew that the challenges of moving to one instance of IFS in the cloud would be great, but also knew that the challenges created by using several disparate systems were greater. Namely, having unconnected processes and data which can lead to inaccuracies and the inability to make decisions based on accurate information. So to ensure a smooth transition within the six-month period IFS focused on:

  • A set of global best practices
  • Report standardization across the business
  • Starting small with only a few processes
  • Change management exercises across the entire company
  • Transforming both internally and externally to the cloud
  • Defining a clear scope and structure
  • Having senior stakeholder support

Thanks to the experience of going through an upgrade themselves, IFS is now working on new products to help solve customer pain points and ensure the best returns on investment possible.
